Sandvik
Sandvik’s underground drilling and tunneling offering includes equipment and solutions for rock drilling, tunneling and excavation applications, including tunneling jumbos, rock support drill rigs and a range of other underground drilling equipment. These solutions are used for drilling in different rock conditions and for supporting tunnel construction processes.
Sandvik continuously invests in research and development to improve our equipment and lead the development of solutions for underground excavation. Equipment testing is carried out in our unique and state-of-the-art test environments which support technology development and ensure reliable performance of our solutions.
Sandvik works closely with customers around in the world. A recent example is the Shinnozoki Tunnel project in Japan together with Taisei Corporation. In this project, the fully automated tunneling jumbo Sandvik DT1131i was put to the test in a large mountain tunnel. Automated drilling delivered consistent results regardless of the operator, contributing to improved stability in the drilling process. In recent years, Sandvik equipment has been employed, among others, in the Bronzolo Bypass Tunnel in South Tyrol, Italy, and in a transformative infrastructure project in the city of Anyang, South Korea.
